Job Summary
We are seeking a hardworking and reliable General Erosion Control Laborer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide essential support to skilled workers and operators, ensuring our projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. This position is primarily based in Kansas, with occasional opportunities for regional travel to gain diverse experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Installation: Install erosion control blankets, silt fences, filter socks, biologs, and sod.
- Site Preparation: Clean and prepare jobsites by digging trenches, raking soil, and clearing debris.
- Material Handling: Unload deliveries and stage materials for skilled workers.
- Tool & Equipment Operation: Safely operate a variety of hand and power tools (shovels, rakes, sledgehammers, etc.).
- Operational Support: Assist equipment operators with alignment and machinery movement using hand signals.
- Site Maintenance: Ensure jobsites and shop areas are clean, organized, and properly stored at the end of each shift.
- Documentation: Utilize project tracking software and take photos to document project progress.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Communication: Ability to listen to, understand, and follow verbal and written directions.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to handle constantly changing assignments and work with diverse personalities.
- Technical Literacy: Basic arithmetic skills for inventory and the ability to use mobile software for project tracking.
- Experience: Prior construction or erosion control experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Licensing: A valid state driver’s license is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
- Must have the stamina to work in all weather conditions.
- Requires frequent bending, digging, and physical coordination.
- Ability to travel during the week and work occasional Saturdays or night shifts as needed.
